In the age-old suks, markets and shopping centers of Tangier and Tetouan, just
about anything can be found: local handicrafts, ready-to-wear garments,
electronics, you name it, they have it. Don't forget your shopping bag!
Suks in Tetouan The suks of Tetouan are on the same footing as those
of other cities. The most famous are:
El Foki El Foki
This suk is known under the name of "Bread Square".
In the middle, countless stalls sell traditional round or
flat loaves of bread the sweet smell of which hovers
over the entire quarter.
"Al-houte" This suk is located in the lovely little square shaded by
a few trees where craftsmen display their objects.
There one sees city dwellers and male and female
peasants clad in red and white striped "foutas" selling
their products.
